Professional experience:
Dr Abbasian (BSc MBBS MSc FRCPsych) completed his psychiatric training at the Maudsley, a centre of excellence and one of the most influential mental health establishments in the world. He has worked with the leaders in the field of psychiatry and addictions. Dr Abbasian has been practising psychiatry since the year 2000 and he currently works for the NHS and the private sector.
He has access to a wide range of therapeutic interventions at the Nightingale Hospital; including psychological, psychotherapeutic, day hospital and the inpatient facility. He teaches medical students, junior doctors, GPs and volunteers. Dr Abbasian has had many media appearances, including on the BBC and has published extensively, including in peer-reviewed journals.
Personal statement:
Dr Abbasian is recognised by the General Medical Council (4637608) as a dual specialist in general adult psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. Referrals are accepted directly from patients, GPs, other specialists and employers. Dr Abbasian can provide medico-legal reports. A full diagnostic assessment can be arranged, including for a second opinion, with therapist recommendation and follow-ups if required.
Dr Abbasian is recognised by all major medical insurers (including BUPA). He is able to communicate fluently in Farsi and is well placed to address mental health issues in patients from Iran and
the Middle East. Information disclosed will remain totally confidential and is usually released only with the patient’s consent.
